Sergey conducted years of materials and device simulation research across academia and industry before joining Mat3ra. He earned his B.S. with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and a Ph.D. in Physics from The Ohio State University. Following a postdoc at NREL, a research faculty position at UCLA, and visiting positions at UNL and Stanford, he drove materials and device simulation efforts at Intermolecular/EMD Electronics, inventing and optimizing advanced materials that enabled semiconductor miniaturization. Sergey holds nearly 60 patents and peer-reviewed papers, and in his free time, he plays music ranging from classical to live rock gigs.
